Lana Jock, left, explains how the wind ripped the roof off her Bonner Springs home about 8 a.m. Sunday. At right is Annie Strauss of Bonner Springs, a friend who was with Jock at the time.
Lana Jock, left, sweeps water off of what remains of the roof of her rented home in the 600 block of North Shideley after the wind ripped the roof off about 8 a.m. Sunday. Helping Jock clean up was a friend, Annie Strauss of Bonner Springs. Jock said her belongings escaped major damage in the windstorm Sunday morning, but she was uncertain what would be salvageable after about a one-inch rainfall Sunday afternoon. Jock had covered the roof with tarps before the rain, but a great deal of water leaked through the seams.
