The season’s high winds were the cause of two streetlight poles breaking and falling into the intersection of Cedar and Front streets on Tuesday morning. Public Works director Kevin Bruemmer said the incident was reported around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday. No property damage resulted except to the poles, a street light, and the traffic light for eastbound Front Street. No one was injured. A possible contributing factor may have been the banner for Marble Days, which was strung between the poles. The intersection is now a three-way stop and will remain that way until the poles and the traffic lights are replaced. Bruemmer said he didn’t have an estimate for the cost of replacement, and the downed poles were probably 30 to 40 years old.
