Bonner Springs A Bonner Springs business has been recognized as being among the top 25 percent in its field. Blessed Trinity Home Care, which provides post-hospital-stay home health care, was named to HomeCare Elite, a ranking of Medicare-certified home health care providers in the United States, by OCS, a health-care information company.
“What we do is basically an extension of a hospital stay,” said Alice Moore, CEO and owner of Blessed Trinity, “so patients get out, and home.”
Moore said the recognition, which is the second year in a row for the company, was especially meaningful to her because the company is competing with services provided by much larger, hospital-affiliated home-care organizations.
Moore started Blessed Trinity five years ago, and the company specializes in three different kinds of home health care: wound care, cardiac care and physical rehabilation.
OCS’s ranking of the top 25 percent of providers was determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance.
The 10 measures used in the HomeCare Elite rankings were based on the percentages of patients who get better at walking or moving around and getting in and out of bed, have less pain when moving around, improve their bladder control, get better at bathing, get better at taking their medicines correctly, are short of breath less often, stay at home after an episode of home health care ends, who had to be admitted to the hospital, and who needed urgent, unplanned medical care.
“We applaud the success of all the providers named to the 2007 HomeCare Elite,” said Bill Bassett, Senior Director of Market Strategy at OCS, Inc. “Being noted as one of the top performers in the nation in this very competitive environment shows that Blessed Trinity Home Health Care is dedicated to quality and performance.”
“It’s because of dedicated staff that Blessed Trinity has reached such a high achievement for the past two years,” said Moore. “The patient comes first in our day-to-day practice at Blessed Trinity Home Health Care. “
