AutumnFest coming to Edwardsville for colorful Sept. 13-15 weekend
The Edwardsville AutumnFest 2007 will begin with a carnival on Sept. 13 and end Sept. 15. The carnival, located south of the fire station on Fourth Street, will feature rides for all ages. The annual Bingo game will be held at 6 p.m. Sept 14 at the Community Center.
The festival will also feature live concerts starting at noon on Sept. 15 with the Outlaw Junkies, a country band that has shared the stage with Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Josh Turner, Miranda Lambert, Daryl Singletary, Clay Walker, Lee Ann Womack and many more country performers. Coming back a second year at the request of those who enjoyed them last year is Scum Gumbo, from New Orleans. Sandwiched in the middle, at 6 p.m., is MidLife Crisis, the winner of the Battle of the Bands competition Aug. 25 at Tiblow Days.
AutumnFest is co-sponsored by the city of Edwardsville, the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. During the free concerts vendors will sell beverages, popcorn and novelty items. All money from these sales will go towards the events for Autumnfest 2008.
The fourth annual barbecue competition will start at noon on Sept. 14, and judging will be at noon Sept. 15. There are cash prizes for the winners.
Arts and crafts booths will be at the festival site beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 15, Bank Midwest is sponsoring the children's pumpkin decorating contest at noon. The fruit pie and chili contests will start at 1 p.m., which also features cash prizes.
