Snow blankets the area
Bonner Springs and Edwardsville, like the rest of the Kansas City metropolitan area, were hit with a snowstorm late Monday that closed area schools on Tuesday.
The storm deposited about four inches and temperatures Tuesday stayed in the mid- to high 20s. Bonner Springs and Edwardsville police departments did not report any accidents related to the weather.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported two accidents Tuesday on southbound Interstate 435.
The first took place at about 9 a.m. and involved two vehicles a mile south of Kansas Avenue, caused by a driver losing control. The other driver was taken to Providence Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.
The second accident happened at 6:17 p.m., just south of Kansas Avenue, and involved five cars. The accident occurred after a car struck the guardrail and got turned around in traffic. The driver of that car and another driver were injured and both were taken to the University of Kansas Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for no more precipitation through Tuesday, and temperatures below freezing through Saturday. Sunday and Monday will see temperatures in the mid to high 40s.
