The Bonner Springs Tiblow Days festival this year will be "All Shook Up."

Mike Clouse, chairman of the festival that officially begins tonight, said one of the main differences in this year's Tiblow Days is reflected in its theme: "Taking Care of Bonner."

The theme echoes the "Takin' Care of Business" slogan of the Memphis Mafia, Elvis Presley's entourage, who wore belt buckles with the initials TCB.

The theme was chosen because the Tiblow Days Parade, which will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will feature the Elvis impersonator Elvis II as its grand marshal, who will also perform 8 p.m. that night in Centennial Park, at the corner of Second and Cedar streets.

Clouse said the Tiblow Committee's selection of Elvis II didn't have anything to do with the 30th anniversary of Presley's death last Friday.

"We were trying to get entertainment that would fill the generation gap from kindergarteners to grade-schoolers, to seniors," Clouse said.

Elvis II will also be on hand to broadcast the weather with Mike Thompson, of Fox 4 News, Clouse said.

Other musical entertainment for the festival will include a musical revue of the songs from "Hair" and "Annie" at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Bonner Springs High School auditorium, plus a garage-band competition, for which five bands have signed up, Clouse said. The Battle of the Bands will be noon-5 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Park.

Tiblow Days begins at 5 p.m. tonight with the Back to School Night carnival at Second and Elm streets, and the Mayor's Banquet begins at 6 p.m. at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church, 425 W. Morse.
