Last weekend, friends and family members of Spencer Buck gathered for the first annual Spencer C. Buck Memorial Poker Run, a Saturday afternoon bike ride that celebrated the life and memory of Buck, a 2003 Bonner Springs High School graduate, who lost his life in a motorcycle accident in July.

In all, 110 bikes, as well as 30 cars and trucks, took part in the ride, which thundered from Kansas City, through Tonganoxie and Lawrence, and back to Bonner Springs.

The event raised more than $2,000 for two separate scholarship funds in Buck's name and donations are still rolling in.

"It was awesome seeing all the T-shirts and bikes go down the road in

Spencer's honor," said Buck's mother,

Joletta Torson. "It was great."
